My name is Alan Twigg and I'm writing this article is to give advice to anyone thinking of creating your own professional audio books.

In the new year I got the idea of creating professional children's stories and offers them for download on the Internet. The fact is that when I write the stories were – my mother – and someone on the market the stories – I do not know anyone who knew how to professionally record the stories. I knew it must berelatively easy, because I only wanted to create an audio book for a speech.

I started doing research on Google – but all the articles I found contained so much technical confused – I was quickly discouraged. So I went to my local music store for advice on what to buy. I decided to make my computer to use audio books, and this is what I bought:

1 microphone stand

1 pop-screen (and a piece of material that sits just before the microphoneStop the "PS" from popping)

1 studio microphone

1 software (WaveLab)

1 USB Audio / MIDI (TASCAM U.S. 122 with phantom power)

1 pair heaphones

All came to € 650 (800) dollars.

I connected my Audio Interface / MIDI (this is actually a very good sound card in an external case) to the computer via the USB cable. So I created my microphone and attached the microphone cable to the MIDI interface. Tosoftware installed, I was ready to go.

The results were great, and I think that software WaveLab powerful and easy to use.

Some Audio Book recording tips

I first get my entire copy ready before the recording. I pin the sheets of paper with the text that I read before going to the wall. Then, about 8 cm away from the microphone, I start to speak. The more clearly you can not find it interesting that you play for youlisteners. I discovered that the best thing to do is to stand before the microphone and gestures in the same way as you would when they get a good friend. If you stand there stiff as a statue, meet in the same way in your recording.

Another thing I do before the start of the study is to myself in a good mood. Again, this will increase the impact of the recording. I always listen to some uplifting songs and get enthusiastic before starting.You should also try to ensure that it maintains the same distance from the microphone.
